Student Leader Fellowship Program
The Student Leader Fellowship Program (SLFP) is a two-year, leadership development program. Committed to developing competent, ethical, and community-centered leaders, the SLFP provides student fellows with a series of unique experiences that further real-world education and interpersonal skills.

Leadership ScholarshipThe program serves to introduce high school students, school officials, and parents to the outstanding leadership and personal development programs at NMU. Scholarship award winners automatically qualify for acceptance into the Student Leader Fellowship Program. $2,000 per year are awarded.
Scholarship applicants are considered by quality, quantity and nature of high school/community involvement in leadership; progression in the level and type of responsibility; and attitude towards leadership. |
First Year
Students are enrolled in UN250: Leadership Theory and Practice "This highly interactive class allows them to explore leadership theories, preferred personal leadership styles, importance of ethics in leadership, human motivation, the importance of diversity, and goal setting skills. " Students are paired with a mentor Mentors are community leaders who act as a role model, adviser, teacher, and friend. The relationships formed between student and mentor are built through experiencing community activities together and it is the mentor's objective to expose the student to leadership roles in the community of Marquette. |
Second Year
Community Service Internship. Student fellows apply the leadership skills they have developed by planning, organizing, and implementing their own community service project. 100 hours or more are dedicated and the project directly benefits the Marquette community.
